the Abington IST program

Hi all! I’m Jimmy, sophomore here in Penn State Abington. I’m so excited to share my story here in Penn State Abington!

Today, I want to talk about the Penn State Abington Information Sciences and Technology Program. Last year, when I went to the INTERLOP tech conference I met Joe Oakes, the IST professor of the Penn State Abington. First time, I thought he was just administrative staff person whom I haven’t met yet; he was very chill, down to earth—he didn’t have that “stereotypical” professor look. But turns out he was a faculty who teaches IST classes.

By the way, those of you who do not know the difference between faculty, and staff is: Faculty is a university employee who interacts with students in educational purposes, like teaching, or research. And Staff members are the university employee who serves student body through non-academic ways, such as, librarians, tech services, and so forth.

Anyways, back to the story; I’ve also met lots of amazing people like Nick Blair, the president of the IST club here in Penn State Abington. Through him and Joe Oakes, I went to other IST events like, the Code Camp—hosted by Penn State Abington, it’s a local IT seminar which brings lots of local venders, where lots of people get jobs, or an internship through, or we learn lots of IT Codes!! Or visit to the Microsoft Tech center, getting hands-on experiences on the slick tools!

After these events I’ve decided to sit on one of the IST courses—IST 220, with Matthew Zeiger, the chair of the Penn State Abington THON- Penn State philanthropy organisation. With these amazing people I have truly fell in love with IST program of Penn State Abington.

and to end this post, I would like to share the IST Promotional video I made for the IST 110 Class project!! I hope you enjoy, as much as most of you will be enjoying the awesome snow day with some hot smushy chocolate!
